Chang Chung-Liang is a visual artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Department of Fine Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts. He holds a DNSEP (Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression Plastique) from the École Supérieure d’Art et Design Le Havre-Rouen (ESADHaR), and a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. He is currently a lecturer and the Director of the Arts and Culture Center at Minghsin University of Science and Technology.

During his time in France, Chang was selected for the ICI et DEMAIN Paris Art Festival and received the Portrait Photography Talent Award from photographie.com, in collaboration with the French National Library and other institutions. He was also a finalist in the 19th Kaohsiung Art Award. His works are part of public and private collections, including Pôle Image (Rouen, France) and the Taiwan Ministry of Culture’s Art Bank.

As an international artist and curator, Chang has organized and participated in solo and group exhibitions across France, Taiwan, South Korea, Mainland China, and Macau.

Chang's practice focuses on painting and photography, while also exploring digital montage, urban cultural observation, and the aesthetic and formal expressions of Eastern and Western visual traditions. Influenced by both Eastern and Western artistic philosophies, his graduate research at Université Paris 1 delved into the shifting relationship between abstraction and figuration, and the expressive potential of multicultural aesthetics. His work seeks a harmony between form and meaning by blending the calligraphic sensibilities of Eastern visual culture with the expressive brushwork of Western traditions.

In Chang's paintings, both microscopic and panoramic brushwork—figurative structure and focal clarity, lyrical abstraction and free expression—coalesce into a richly textured, warm visual language that draws the viewer in. "Art in play, play in art": for Chang, the brushstroke is both a hallmark of artistic style and a path toward introspective memory. Whether evoking emotion through landscape or celebrating its presence, each work captures his lived impressions across Europe. Every painting, shaped over time, bears the traces of evolving moods and moments. Each brushstroke serves as a record of an imaginative journey through memory and place.

While his physical travels have taken him across Europe, his canvases create a world of their own—where time, medium, and gesture intersect. Employing the dot, hook, sweep, and press of traditional Eastern brushwork with the layered richness of Western materials, his compositions offer a dynamic interplay of perspectives. In his hands, Eastern landscape sensibilities and Western spatial structures enter into a lively and harmonious dialogue, rendering European scenery in a poetic space where cultures converge.
