In this collaboration, Hsu Pi-Ling approaches the project as a form of speculative future fable, transforming the digital identities of CloneX into twelve “Alien Envoys.” Each envoy corresponds to a distinct universe of consciousness, proposing a philosophical vision of multiple modes of existence. Through these works, Hsu further explores the shifting relationships between time, the Other, and the self, unfolding a cosmic narrative that moves across the boundaries of the physical and the virtual, as well as those of established visual languages.

The works go beyond the mere representation of digital characters. Hsu deconstructs and reassembles the original avatars, placing them within a world shaped by circles, spatial structures, optical illusion, and extraterrestrial imagination. In doing so, these Web3 identities are released from their original digital interfaces and transformed into hybrid presences that exist somewhere between human figures, symbols, and unknown life forms.

Twelve Alien Envoys also captures a distinctive moment in the encounter between contemporary art and digitally native culture. Here, NFTs are no longer merely digital objects to be collected, but become material for artistic reinterpretation, translation, and the creation of new worlds.
