楊永福老師極其擅長捕捉台灣鄉土與古蹟建築之美。金門古厝的「燕尾脊」是極具台灣與閩南文化指標性的寫生題材，這類帶有強烈本土文史情懷的作品，在台灣西畫收藏圈（如：國泰世華藝術中心）的詢問度與流通性通常高於一般純風景寫生。此作創作於 1996 年（約為老師 41 歲時），正值其精力最充沛、畫風走向成熟且頻繁獲獎的精華時期。早期的寫生作品往往筆觸更為扎實、敷色層次豐富，具有相當高的典藏與歷史承接價值。

Yang Yong-Fu is particularly accomplished at capturing the beauty of Taiwan’s local landscapes and historic architecture. The swallow-tail ridge of Kinmen’s traditional houses is an iconic motif associated with Taiwanese and Minnan culture. Works with such strong local historical and cultural resonance generally receive greater collector interest and market circulation in Taiwan’s Western-painting market (for example, Cathay United Art Center) than conventional landscape sketches.

Painted in 1996, when Yang was approximately 41, the work comes from a period of high creative energy, increasing stylistic maturity, and frequent recognition. Earlier plein-air works are often distinguished by firmer brushwork and richer layers of color, giving them strong collection and historical-continuity value.
