A refined small-format Hanji abstraction, this work marks Ham’s movement from the weathered, darker atmosphere of the 1990s into the year 2000. Across the turn of the millennium, the settled layers of paper fiber and color become warmer and more buoyant. The title imagines a future year—2024—while the material itself carries a century of historical memory. That tension between future projection and accumulated time is presented as one of the work’s most compelling qualities. By coincidence, 2024 would also become the year of the artist’s death, giving the title an unexpectedly poignant resonance.
